Elsa's title as SHIELD's foremost expert on both magic and the Nine Realms is more or less a default, considering she's the only one with any extensive information on either one on Midgard at the moment. At least the only one she's aware of; if anyone else crashed into this realm, they apparently did it more quietly than Elsa does. Being their consultant means that anything they think might come from another realm, particularly Asgard -- or Jotunheim, despite her reminders that she's barely seen it, whatever her blood might be -- comes to her, and while most of it isn't very important or exciting, it's the closest thing she gets to news on the other realms while the bridge is still down.
The abduction of the Tesseract by Hans is the first important thing they've brought her way, and Elsa immediately demanded to be brought in to the base of the retrieval attempts. It took the promise to explain everything she knew about it for her demands to be granted, but at least it happened. When the man decides to make a spectacle of himself, Elsa is told to wait on the Helicarrier. Fine by her. She could possibly help, but she's not sure how widespread knowledge of her new home is; he may have not learned of it yet, in which case, keeping it as their ace in the hole can't hurt.
When the readings start fluctuating in a way that the scientists around her find dangerously familiar, Elsa's mind works two steps ahead. Heimdall must be watching, there's no reason for anyone helping Hans to know so clearly where to go, and that makes it just as likely, maybe more so, that it will be help instead of more danger. She barely pauses to explain her thinking before all but running to the area the readings are coming from. Midgard is nice, the friends she'd made here are wonderful, or she'd never have stayed, but to see someone from home, to hear news of her family and the kingdom? Even with the darkness of the situation, she can't help smiling as she runs to find them.
Only to stop in surprise as she finds what she's looking for. She'd expected Kristoff, maybe, at best, but --
"Anna?"
She can barely believe her eyes.
